It’s a good thing the Cardinals won the World Series, or else I’d be out of subject matter by now. This 18×24 acrylic on canvas was painted solely for the Joe Buck Classic Golf Tournament to benefit the St. Louis Children’s Hospital. The event was held at Old Warson Country Club on May 20-21 and Joe Buck humorously hosted the live auction, and held a follow up Q&A with Troy Aikman. Although my attempts to have the painting autographed by a Cardinals player fell just short, it was still a hit and was sold along with tickets to the MLB All-Star Game for $2,500! Pretty soon you’ll be able to order prints of the painting online, and even on products like drink coasters and note cards. I’ll let you know as soon as that’s ready.
If you’re interested in supporting the Children’s Hospital, one of its biggest events of the year is coming up in August: the 6th annual Kickball for a Cause tournament in Shaw Park. You can learn more about it and sign up here.
Switching gears, tomorrow will be my fourth stop on the Great St. Louis Coffee Tour. If all goes as planned I’ll be heading down to Park Avenue Coffee in Lafayette Square. I promised myself I’d take it somewhat easy today so I don’t bail out like last week. Be sure to check out last week’s review of Stone Spiral if you missed it.
