QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“Never put off until tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.”
– Mark Twain
I actually had a different quote slated for this post, but once I read this one from Twain I couldn’t wait to share it (no pun intended). The entire month of September leading up to Taste of St. Louis didn’t allow for any time to procrastinate, and now I’m even more addicted to the feeling of being productive and enjoying the fruits of my labor. I would relate it to runner’s high. I’ve learned that my creativity comes in waves, and to ride it for weeks until I need a break. For those of you who know me best, I promise I’ll relax one of these days 🙂
NOW SHOWING AT A CLOTHING BOUTIQUE!
Though my show at Soulard Coffee Garden ended yesterday, I’m excited to announce it has found a new temporary home at Mister Guy Clothiers in Ladue on Clayton Road (across the street from Lester’s). The sales manager of the Men’s Store saw my work at Taste and said the paintings would fit perfectly with the clothing colors and patterns. I’ll most likely be up through the end of the year, and looking forward to keeping the train moving once that time comes. I have a few other boutiques in mind to move on to, though hopefully I’ll need to create a lot of new work to fulfill those opportunities!
I while back I mentioned a project I’ve started with my friend Gabe to do public safety artwork (police, fire, EMS) for the local officers and their families. The ongoing project is called Lucks Art 911, and a portion of sales will be donated to the local Backstoppers. We’ve made exciting progress in the past few months and below is the first print available to customize the badge itself with the officer’s own rank and DSN (I.D. #). There will be many more drawings to come, and eventually I’ll build a dedicated website for the initiative. So, if you know any public safety professionals or retirees, this would be a fantastic one-of-a-kind gift for the holidays, birthday, or other special occasions.
