Back in March I donated a commissioned drawing to the 7th Annual Cocktails and Clowns event hosted by the St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Unfortunately I couldn’t attend but heard it was stellar as usual and just recently I was contacted by the woman that won the drawing in the auction. She wanted the 8×10 drawing to be of her two babies, Mo and Minnie, and provided a photograph of them modeling on the couch. Practicing watercolor lately has modified my approach to portraits in that “less is more” and I’m being more conscious about suggesting subject matter. For the dog drawing I simplified the patterns on the couch and pillows just enough to help the composition but not take away from the dog faces.
Next week and the week after I’ll be unveiling two new horse drawings!
