In honor of celebrating our Independence Day, and all the traditions that come with it, I created this as part of my ongoing fruit series. I dropped it off at Schon last weekend, so feel free to stop by the boutique (across from the Galleria) to see it in person. There are currently five other pieces there as well (scroll down a few posts to see those).
Title: Summer Sweetness
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Size: 10 x 10 inches, 1.5 inches deep
Description: I never buy watermelon. In my mind, the stealthy black seeds and thick rind make the whole eating experience a hassle. But, I learned it’s the favorite fruit of a friend, and decided to give it another chance. Only then did I realize nature’s rare production – a fruit designed with complimentary colors. The bright red core makes the green exterior appear greener, and vice versa. Throw in some black seeds for contrast and you get a pretty good lookin’ piece of fruit. Exactly as nature intended. Not to mention it tastes as good as it looks!
