I knocked out two hand-painted wine bottles this past week as wedding shower gifts, and from what I hear, I have a few more on the way! I wanted to show the bottle below because it is a prime example of how detailed and customized they can be. Both bottles reconfirmed why I love commissions so much, because everyone’s story is different and it is very fulfilling to represent it in a creative, artistic way.
To start, I was given two bottles to choose from along with the wedding invitation so I could see the color scheme. I chose the bottle that best complemented the navy, green and ivory and then searched online for the couple’s wedding website to get the rest of the details I needed. By the way, those sites are a lifesaver in terms of learning their story and knowing what to symbolize! In this case, Liz and Luis are both teachers and met in Chicago, though are getting married in St. Louis. Therefore, I combined the skylines of both cities, making sure to portray Chicago’s beach, bicycles, books and an apple, and the museum logo from their first date. Lastly, I painted the monogram on the bag in watercolor to complete the presentation, especially since it’s hard to find a bag that does justice to the hand-painted bottle.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“Never bear more than one trouble at a time. Some people bear three kinds – all they have had, all they have now, and all they expect to have.”
